Bike Trees
Did you know your participation in the Mont 24 Hour Race will be good for the environment?
While riding your bike is arguably on of the cleanest and greenest forms of transport those dirty little carbon footprints do sneak up on you once you factor in the freight component of getting your bike (and other cycling-related products) from where it was made to where you bought it. Likewise the footprint generated when you travel by car to and from events or driving to your favourite riding spot. What you can do about reducing your carbon footprint? You can buy Bike TREES.
Bike TREES is a green initiative designed to offset the carbon cost buying a bike made overseas or traveling to an event or simply driving to ride mountain bike trails. The Bike TREES concept involves planting trees for sure, but the really exciting thing for riders (aside from the positive environmental impacts) is that the trees planted will form a forest that will become a riding destination featuring a network of trails built by the local mountain bike club.
We feel that Bike Trees is an awesome concept and have signed up the Mont 24 Hour MTB Race as a foundation supporter event.
For every entrant in the Mont, Bike TREES will plant one tree – which means there will be thousands of trees planted from this one event. Bike TREES will be planting these trees at Mount Taylor, just North of Bairnsdale – a region dramatically affected by recent bush fires.
We encourage you to support this initiative generously. We will have additional Bike TREES for sale in the lead up to the event (and at the race) so to take up the cause and buy additional trees for your team, club or company.
Bike TREES is a self funded, industry based tree planting and reforestation program which aims to improve the world we live in by planting trees.
